Yearning for an incredible experience you’ll never forget? Explore the wilderness in Trysil in Norway and try dog sledding with Fjell-Husky!
Trysil is one of Norways biggest ski destinations for both downhill and cross-country skiing. You are almost guaranteed perfect snow conditions throughout the winter season, from November to April. No wonder it’s called a winter wonderland!
Trysil is located 2,5 hours drive north of the capital Oslo, close to the Swedish border. The area is very popular both among Norwegians and tourists with an extensive cabin area on both sides of the huge Trysil mountain. You will definitely be able to rent a cabin with ski-in ski-out, since almost every cabin area is located near or in the slopes.
Alaskan husky is the most commonly used dog in dog sledding. They are strong dogs, and are at their happiest when work is hard and the temperature is low. In other words, huskies are the perfect choice as companions when you steer your sled through the wilderness in Trysil.
You will be able to try your hand as a musher and steer your own pack of dogs, as well as be the passenger enjoying the comfort of the sled. Don’t be surprised if the sled tips and you fall out – but no worries, it won’t hurt!
Previous knowledge from dogsledding is not necessary. Everyone who is fit enough for cycling or skiing can join dog sledding. Our four-legged friends are always up for cuddling in between dog sledding, and they will give you an experience of a lifetime. This will definitely appeal to dog lovers everywhere.
I absolutely recommend dog sledding with Fjell-Husky in Trysil. Andreas and his family will render you with a great time in the winter wilderness! They provide a lot of knowledge about the breeds, feeding, training and races, great training for steering the sled, as well as food and beverages after the ride.
You can choose between different dog sledding tours in the Trysil area. Either a day-trip or at night-trip with headlamps, in the high mountains in Elvdalen/Snerta or in the great nature of Fageråsen. You will always be a small group with a private atmosphere. They offer tours spending from around 1 hour to about 5-6 hours. Some of the tours are also suitable for children.
Regardless of the trip you choose you will have a lovely experience with the dog sledding team from Fjell-Husky. It’s such an unique and wonderful adventure in the Norwegian wilderness!
