Healthy Fall Treat: Apple Pear Crumble

Apple Pear Crumble

Who doesn’t love healthy (paleo friendly) fall treats?

 

It’s something cozy about fall; shorter days, lower temperature and colorful nature. Even though I’m a summer child, I’ve always been fond of the fall. The best thing is probably all the snuggles, with a warm, fluffy blanket and a cup of tea. And along comes the justifications for making pastries…. Which makes it perfect to have some healthy fall treats to choose from!

 

Below you will find one of my favorites: Apple Pear Crumble. 

 

Ingredients

Filling:

  • 2 pears, peeled and chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 0,5 dl raisins or goji berries
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cassava flour
  • ½ teaspoon powdered ginger

 

Topping:

  • 2,4 dl cassava flour
  • 3-4 tablespoons coconut oil or cold leaf lard (snow white, odorless lard best for pastries)
  • 3 tablespoons coconut palm sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

How to make:

Apple Pear Crumble

 

Preheat oven to 175 degrees. Mix all filling ingredients in a large bowl. Pour into a typical sized (about 23 cm) pie plate. Set aside while making topping.

 

Add all topping ingredients to bowl of a food processor. Pulse off and on to combine, stopping as soon as large crumbles form. Add the topping into the pie plate. You can use your fingers to break up and spread crumbles evenly.

 

Bake for 40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
