From my mini essay ‘The Beauty of Motherhood’: From my mini essay ‘The Beauty of Motherhood’:

«Only 5 months of life and our baby girl has already interacted with, and begun to discover and explore the world with her mama and papa: Dipped her toes in the refreshing Aegean ocean, felt the warm African wind on her skin, smelled blooming flowers, and heard buzzing bees, gazed at the shadows on the wall from huge palms, experienced amazing sunsets, and got a taste of Egyptian mango. She has also experienced love from her close family, kisses and laughs, hugs and cuddles, as well as warm and friendly interactions with strangers who don’t speak her mother tongue.

Soon she will interact more deeply with the world around her, talk to familiars and strangers, play and have fun in the natural world, contemplate the dark night sky, and philosophize about things we adults have long forgotten that we once did not understand. While she will do all that and more, we will be there by her side, every step of the way, discovering, connecting, and exploring this astonishing planet of ours, and all the beautiful diverse cultures, human beings, and animals living here. Along the way, we will slowly but surely let go and allow her to take baby steps towards becoming independent, and free. Every good mother fails they say, and for good reason.»

glimpse from the third trimester, due month & the glimpse from the third trimester, due month & the last days before birth...

my pregnancy has been a journey filled with wonder, serendipity, and revelation, and now after I’ve given birth, I can say that it ended with a beautiful beginning to a brand new adventure🌀🪷💙

I’m currently writing an essay about my *unmedicated planned home birth* which was a truly transformative experience. I’m so grateful for my choice, for taking the chance and trusting my innate ability to give birth to my baby without interventions, in the comfort of my own home, together with my partner and midwives that was familiar to me. I hope the essay will contribute to the conversation surrounding birth and bring more than fear, pain, risk, and disease to what it means to give birth to new life, as well as a recognition and honoring of the female body and what it is capable of… stay tuned!

leaving 2nd trimester, entering the last phase🌀 leaving 2nd trimester, entering the last phase🌀 it’s been a joyous ride, to say the least, filled with revelations, insights, feelings, and experiences that I will cherish forever. I love life, I love being and feeling alive, with all its ups and downs, risks and rewards, opportunities and obstacles, freedoms and responsibilities. that is the energy, the spirit, the vigor I will bring to the new life that is yet to be born. cheers to continuing to catch the next wave🎐

mystical, magical, beyond human grasp mystical, magical, beyond human grasp
In no man’s land, on a peninsula on the Greek is In no man’s land, on a peninsula on the Greek island of Samos, surrounded by raw, powerful nature: The unpredictable, spectacular Aegean Sea in the foreground, the magnificent Kerkis mountain towering in the back, wild, dry, green nature, and a capricious, melodic wind. In a scene set by Mother Earth, much beyond our control, we chose to enter into a marriage, a covenant, a commitment to each other for life, based on the philosophy of love. Sacrificing a part of ourselves as a symbol of Agape, climbing the platonic ladder of Eros as a symbol of aspiration, enacting the reciprocal nature of human bonding, that is Philia.

A day where time stood still. A day surrounded by people and nature that makes life worth living. A day that changed our lives forever.

Thank you so much @paoroa for capturing these magical moments🤍

An excerpt from my essay «Why Get Married?»:

«We were caught in a bind; on the one hand, we do not associate with any particular religion. We have a scientific worldview if you want, and for this reason, we couldn’t get ourselves to get married in a church because of its beauty and tradition when we don’t believe in the foundation and sacredness that built these magnificent buildings, rituals, and traditions in the first place. On the other hand, the secular version of wedding ceremonies often falls into two categories: either they are completely stripped of anything that resembles real love and human bonding. The commitment and covenant between two people is reduced to the legality of marriage – a piece of paper that makes it official. On the other hand, secular wedding ceremonies have become a complete farce. It revolves more around finding the best marketer (bullshit artist if you want) to cook up some elegant, flattering words about love so that we all can get drunk and have a party because, at the end of the day, we all know that the chance of divorce is more likely than a commitment for life, so please leave out the chores. We want to feel like we are in a romantic comedy, if only for one day!»
