Treat yourself to a peaceful farm stay and feel the ease of the Norwegian country side.
Låvely is located in Snertingdal in Gjøvik municipality, 2,5 hour drive from Oslo. This used to be a grain warehouse in a traditional old barn. Now you can enjoy the large and bright apartment in tranquil and quiet surroundings. The place has everything you need and more, and if you’re looking for a get away this is the perfect place.
The apartment is large (90 m2) and is easily suited for 6 adults. You have two bedrooms; one with double bed and the other with bunk bed. In the living room you also have a comfortable daybed (maybe 120 cm) if you need more sleeping space.
In the summer time, you will be able to enjoy natural light illuminating the apartment from early morning to late at night. You have several seating areas both inside and outside. Bring a good book and sit back for a peaceful farm stay.
Enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the birds sing. Occasionally you will hear the bells of the sheep which is pretty charming. You have morning sun on this side, and on the other side of the barn you can enjoy the evening sun.
In the kitchen you will find a binocular for the people interested in different bird species and other wild animals. The forests surrounding Snertingdal are know for both mouse, deer, lynx and also brown bear.
For creative souls like myself, this place is a gem. The host let me use their gazebo as an atelier to paint. This was an absolute delight, and gave me a wave of creative spirit. Here I could let my thoughts flow freely and with that comes vision and artistry.
Whatever your creative endeavors are, I believe this place will provide you with the same spirit. This place is probably perfect for writing a book, and work at any craftsmanship really. Bring your creativity and let it flourish.
This place is definitely for people who like to connect with nature. In the summer you can hike or bike to small forest lakes for a refreshing swim. For a more tranquil experience, I recommend watching birds and picking and smelling flowers.
The valley of Snertingdal gets pretty warm in the summer, and cold in the winter, so you will get the true seasonal feeling. In the winter you can go cross-country skiing from Låvely, or downhill at nearby ski centers like Hafjell, Kvitefjell, Sjusjøen og Aurdal.
If you like to experience something truly native, I recommend visiting Snertingdal Ysteri café. Located about 7 minutes from Låvely by car. Here you can enjoy locally produced food and drinks, as well as there specialty – locally produced cheese. The place is open from Thursday to Sunday.
The closes supermarket is 10 minutes away by car, and Gjøvik city center is about 30 minutes.
If you love animals, you should stop by the small farm, Ringeli. Located about 10 minutes fra Låvely. Usually on Saturdays they arrange alpaca tours where you can take a stroll with one of the five alpacas on the farm. The alpacas have a majestic walk and are curious animals. This has become a pretty favored activity in Norway, and is said to be great for mental health.
Fun fact: it’s only llamas who spit on you when they don’t like you, the alpacas only spit on each other if they get into a quarrel. But don’t interpret their curiosity with the wish for cuddles – they hate being patted on the head….
